Breitling A68062 - B-1 Professional Chronograph
What is the Breitling A68062? According to Wordtracker.com, almost 1,000 people search for that term or some variation of it every month. We have an average of over 700 people a month view this page on our site.
Unfortunately, most of the search results are for what I call "garbage" sites that have absolutely no content in them. Practically all the rest of the search results are for replica watch sites.
And that is where I think a lot of the confusion starts. I did a search on eBay for "breitling a68062" and simply "a68062". I found three watches listed that said they were Breitling watches with this model number on the case back. Unfortunately, none of them were actually the right watch. They also had really bad pictures by the way, which is usually a dead giveaway that the watch is probably a replica. Apparently, quite a few Breitling replica watch manufacturers have adopted this model number for their fakes!
So, what is the Breitling A68062? It is an older version of the Breitling B-1 Professional Chronograph Watch. The current version, model number A78362, is pictured to the right.
You will notice from the display that the B-1 features both analog and digital displays. The Breitling A78362 has a new movement and has been certified as a chronometer by the COSC. This watch uses the same calibre (Breitling 78) as the new Breitling Professional Airwolf.
Here is how the model numbers are created. The second and third digits, "68" in this case, indicate the movement caliber number. The third digit uses a "3" to designate that a model is chronometer certified. If it has not been certified then the third digit is a "0". So, the Breitling B-1 watch with model number A68062 uses the Breitling Caliber 68 movement and is not certified as a chronometer.
In doing further research on this subject, I learned that there are two variations of the Breitling A68062. The first version says "1884" on the dial and does not have a "B" on the crown. A later version came out with "B-1" instead of "1884" on the dial and does have a "B" on the crown.
The list price for a brand new Breitling B-1 Professional with a stainless steel bracelet is approximately $3,250. There are stainless steel models with stainless steel bracelets and leather straps. There is also a yellow gold model and a white gold model. If you find an older model A68062 that is in like new condition, you should probably expect to pay about half list price if it has the paperwork intact.
