Breitling Certified Chronometers
Breitling has the distinction of being the only major watch company to offer COSC certified chronometer movements on all models in its collection. This is truly a commemoration of the high standards established by Breitling watches - since only 3% of all watches produced in Switzerland are awarded the official COSC chronometer certification.
Breitling watches are not simply timekeepers though. They are designed to stand up to intensive use and deliver their vital information even in the most trying conditions. Each detail of the construction has been developed and tested to match the highest parameters in terms of sturdiness, readability and simplicity of use - three strong points of every Breitling watch and three essential factors guiding the entire design and production process.
Breitling Watch Collections
There are four primary collections of Breitling watches featuring over 30 different models and hundreds of variations of styles. Here is a brief overview of each of the four collections along with links to more detailed pages:
- Breitling Navitimer - Launched in 1952, the Navitimer chronograph quickly became a favorite with professional pilots. In the days when there was not that much instrumentation in the cockpit, the built in "navigational computer" circular slide rule could be used to perform all of the vital navigational computations. Other models in the Navitimer collection include the Cosmonaute, Montbrillant and the Chrono-Matic.
- Breitling Windrider - All of the models in the Windrider collection have inherited their styling from the Chronomat, the leader of the Breitling watch collection, featuring a rider-tab rotating bezel. Models in this collection include the Chronomat Evolution, Cockpit, Chrono Cockpit, Cockpit Lady, Starliner and Blackbird.
- Breitling Professional - The Professional collection is aptly named, designed specifically with the modern day professional aviator in mind. Models include the Emergency, Emergency Mission, Aerospace, Airwolf, Skyracer and Co-Pilot.
- Breitling Aeromarine - The Aeromarine collection broadens the horizons of Breitling - or should I say "deepens". Featuring the largest number of models in the Breitling collection of watches, this collection is designed for the individual looking for a high-performance timepiece whether in the air, on the land or in the sea. Models include the Avenger series, Superocean models and ever-popular Colt lineup.
