Casio Pathfinder Watches
The Casio Pathfinder watch collection is rapidly growing in popularity from their humble beginnings. The first "prototype" was introduced in February 1989 with the release of a watch that had an internal semiconductor barometer sensor that measured the air pressure every three hours, and showed the data on a bar graph display.
In April 1993 Casio introduced the first of several digital compass watches. As a result of these new innovations, Casio went on to create the Casio Pathfinder watch collection (US brand name) and the Casio Protrek watch collection (non-US brand name) in 1998. Since then Casio has added features such as a thermometer, altimeter and depth meter - making these the ultimate watch for the outdoor enthusiast.
In 2001 Casio launched a third collection - the Casio Sea Pathfinder watch. The Casio Sea Pathfinder watch lineup delivers helpful functions for the deep sea fisher and open sea sailor including a digital compass, barometer, thermometer, ebb and flow indicator, lunar calendar function and yacht timer.
In 2002 the culmination of other Casio technologies evolved into the creation of the solar powered Casio Pathfinder watch and Protrek watch. The Casio Solar Pathfinder watch is not your everyday office wear! These watches are a good two inches wide (5 cm) and over half an inch thick (1.5 cm). But if you are looking for a faithful companion to take with you on your four week wilderness adventure, you will definitely want to have a Casio Solar Pathfinder watch strapped to your wrist.
In early 2006, Casio married the technology of the Casio Pathfinder collection with their atomic timekeeping Wave Ceptor collection to create the world's first atomic time watch that can synch with atomic clocks on three continents.
