Citizen Eco-Drive watches use a simple yet advanced technology to capture any kind of light and convert it into energy that can be used to power Eco-Drive watches for up to four years. This revolutionary development means that you will never have to change the battery on your Citizen Eco-Drive watch ever again. I bought my first Citizen Eco-Drive over seven years ago and it is still one of my all-time favorites.

How can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is charged?
In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. If the power in the storage cell is running low the second hand will jump two seconds at a time - while still keeping correct time.
Please note that not all Citizen Eco-Drive watches have this feature. Many of the models for ladies do not have a second hand.
How long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?
This varies by model. If you put a fully-charged Eco-Drive watch away in a closet, jewelry box or drawerwhere there is no light, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years.
How can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?
Any kind of light can be used to charge an Eco-Drive. For most models, once the watch is sufficiently charged, regular every day wear will give it enough light to remain charged. However, the amount of time it takes to charge the watch varies according to the source of light.
Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp or an incandescent lamp while it is not being worn. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to the watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight but not on the dashboard of a car or in a window sill.
Currently, one of the most popular Eco-Drives for men is the Citizen Men's Calibre 2100 Titanium Watch AV0021-52H. One of the most advanced chronograph watches made by Citizen, this watch offers stylish lines that make it a great choice for both business and casual wear. The case and bracelet are titanium - which is 30 percent stronger than steel and nearly 50 percent lighter. It's also more resistant to salt water corrosion and is hypo-allergenic - perfect for those with metal allergies.
The Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk collection has been popular for a number of years, featuring the Citizen Men's Skyhawk Eco-Drive Watch #JR3060-59F and the Citizen Men's Skyhawk Eco-Drive Chronograph Watch #JR3090-58L
that honors the Blue Angels, the legendary US Navy precision flying team, with an official Blue Angels insignia on the caseback.
For the ladies, the Citizen Women's Corso Eco-Drive Diamond-Accented Watch #EW0240-53N features a satin-finished silver watch case that's highlighted by a polished silver bezel with scalloped accents and 12 tiny diamonds and a light blue mother-of-pearl dial.
