The Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk collection features some of the most popular watches ever made by Citizen. The Citizen Skyhawk JR3090-58L is one of two models that honors the the legendary U.S. Navy precision flying team - the Blue Angels - with an official Blue Angels insignia on the caseback and a special Blue Angels color scheme.
This model features a titanium case and bracelet, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. Titanium is also much more resistant to salt water corrosion. Of course, as a Citizen Eco-Drive, this watch absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously so it never needs to have the battery replaced.
The JR3090-58L automatically keeps track of the time and date in twenty-two different time zones at the same time and is equipped with three world time alarms, a 99-minute countdown timer, the ability to interchange the analog and digital time with one touch of a button and a 1/100-second chronograph that measures up to 24 hours.
The black bezel offers a bi-directional rotating slide rule and the Blue Angels blue dial background features large silver-tone hands. I really like the design of the silver-tone satin-finished titanium bracelet and the fact that this watch is water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet). The Citizen Blue Angels Titanium Skyhawk also features a scratch-resistant, non-reflective mineral crystal.
I own the JR3125-55E, which has a similar layout on the dial and I really like that I can still read the information in the digital display windows with ease - as long as there is sufficient light. The watch does not have any backlight feature so you really cannot use the digital display at night.
The JR3090-58L retails for $575.00 but you can easily find it from online authorized dealers for $345, 40% below that price. We even found it at Jomashop for $327.00 with free shipping and they ship internationally. If you want to save a few more bucks, you may be able to find it on eBay for around $290. Just remember that the sellers on eBay are probably not authorized dealers and that may cause the warranty to be invalid.
