Citizen has been one of the world's largest watch makers for many years. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere."
Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the world's slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch and the world's first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first in the world to sell watches made with titanium, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (stainless steel can be allergenic to some wearers).
Most recently, Citizen has introduced their unique Eco-Drive technology, which absorbs sunlight as well as any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive recharges itself for a lifetime of use. Many of the Citizen watches also feature a perpetual calendar that automatically adjusts for odd and even months and leap years through 2100. All of the models available in the U.S. use quartz movements, making these watches virtually "maintenance-free".
Citizen watches are also covered by a five-year manufacturer's warranty, one of the best in the industry. Most Eco-Drive models have a list price between $200 and $500. However, you can easily find dealers offering them for half the list price. Amazon.com is now one of the largest dealers of Citizen watches. There are literally hundred of Eco-Drive models to choose from for both men and women. Many of the ladies watches feature diamonds set in the bezel and dial as well as mother-of-pearl dials.
One of the most popular collections is the Skyhawk Flight Chronograph, featuring analog and digital displays and world time. The Skyhawk collection includes a series of models commemorating the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the legendary elite flying demonstration squadron, which feature an official Blue Angels insignia on the caseback and official Blue Angels colors on the dial.
Another popular collection is the Citizen Promaster Dive series which are water resistant up to 300 meters and include one model that allows you to link the watch to your PC and upload dive data such as maximum depth, dive times and water temperatures directly into your computer.
Citizen watches are extremely reliable, look great and are reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with a Citizen watch.
