Limited Edition Fossil Superman Watch Sells Out in Less Than a Month

On June 6, 2006 Fossil announced the pending release and pre-order of the Limited Edition Fossil Superman Watch (Model number LL1003) to commemorate the "Superman Returns" movie that is coming out this summer.

Fossil produced 1,000 pieces of this extremely popular model. In less than a month, the watch sold out on the Fossil.com website.

This watch features a silver-tone stainless steel Superman logo on the dial, a Certificate of Authenticity and an engraved limited edition number on the caseback. It has a silver-tone stainless steel mesh bracelet and is packaged in a black textured box with a Superman emblem on the top.

The list price is $125.00. There have already been numerous auctions on eBay for this model with prices ranging from $125 to $189, including shipping charges. (UPDATE 8/30/06 - The most recent auctions for this watch sold for $200 to $335!)

There is definitely a market for Superman collectible watches! As a matter of fact, I saw a completed auction for a Fossil Superman watch that came out in 2001 and was not even a limited edition model. The original list price was $70 and the auction closed at $322, including shipping.

In addition to the Superman Returns watch, there is currently another Limited Edition Fossil Superman watch. It is called the Fossil Limited Edition - Superman: Tattoo - LI 2536. Production was limited to 3,000 pieces and the list price is $115.00. One of the truly unique features of this watch is that it uses something called "Pelikon technology" which allows you to change the background color of the dial with the push of a button. I may have to get one of these just to see how that works! This model comes in a silver-tone stainless steel case, black leather strap, Certificate of Authenticity, engraved serial number and round silver tin with printed Superman art.
