More a site related question

I apologize if this is inconvenient, and you obviously need not reply. If time permits, any advice would be greatly appreciated though.
I have purchased the SBI package (I saw your BANS related comments on a forum thread) and I have a domain now for sports biographies. But, I might have jumped the gun, because the prospects of combining the ebay affiliate program with another love--hockey memorabilia--would go perfectly well together. For that concept, I'm wondering if a BANS site independent of SBI in this case might be better.
While I understand the importance of content instead of just slapping up a faceless site with products, am considering this alternate approach and simply add in considerably more content than a lot of the BANS sites I see (some have zero!).
Is it possible that, despite SBI's mantra of focusing solely on content without making any sales pitches, I'd be missing the boat by not talking about hockey memorabilia collecting? It sounds as if SBI's recommendation would be just to talk about hockey moments and players without even really discussing hobby collecting.
At the same time, I think one of the SBI Case Studies features a doll collection site. That sounds like a hobby that, by its nature, has to talk some about purchasing dolls.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or relaying of experiences you've had would be awesome.
