Since their beginning in 1881, Movado watches have established a reputation and legacy of design innovation. The word "movado" actually means "always in motion", this brand has constantly moved the artistic segment of the watch industry into new territory.

Perhaps the most famous Movado watch is the Movado Museum watch, designed by Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. The unique black dial with a single gold dot at the 12 o'clock position is instantly recognized as a Movado watch.

The Movado Museum was the first watch dial ever awarded with the distinction of being selected to the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1960. Today you will find Movado watches on display in prominent museums around the world.

The popularity recognized by Movado watches today is due almost exclusively to the efforts of one man - Gerry Grinberg. He bought the struggling company in 1983 and his marketing team applied their amazing skills to increase sales from $4 million to over $50 million in less than five years. The Museum watch was the cornerstone of that marketing campaign.

Today, Movado is one of seven brands produced and marketed by Movado Brands. Other brands include Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Coach, Ebel, Concord and ESQ.
