The Omega Seamaster 300 M is the most popular model for the gentleman. Perhaps that may be because it is the watch worn by James Bond. Actually, there are two variations of the Omega 300 M "official" James Bond watch - the Omega Seamaster 300 M Diver Chronometer (2531.80.00) and the Omega Seamaster 300 M GMT (2535.80.00).
If you don't need the chronometer but want the James Bond "look" then the Omega Seamaster 300 M Quartz (2541.80.00) is a good substitute for about $450 less. The only difference is that the quartz model does not have the chronometer rating. A chronometer simply means that the movement has been rigorously tested and certified by the COSC, an independent Swiss testing laboratory.
All of the Omega Seamaster 300 M models are water resistant to 300 meters (1,000 feet) and are capable for use in scuba diving and compression diving. Most models are housed in a stainless steel case and have a hypo-allergenic stainless steel bracelet. There are other variations that have 18-carat solid gold or titanium cases and bracelets as well as rubber or leather straps.
Here is a listing of the various Omega 300 M watch models with a brief description of their unique features.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is more of a business man's dress watch. Water resistance is 150 meters (500 feet) which does not make it suitable for diving. It can still be worn while swimming, recreational snorkeling and free diving. The non-quartz models feature the brand new Co-Axial Escapement movement which was developed with the guidance of master watchmaker George Daniels. This revolutionary technology has created an extremely accurate COSC-certified self-winding mechanical chronometer.
This is one of the newest additions to the Omega watch collection. It is one of two new watches in the Michael Phelps series. The unique orange bezel and orange leather strap in the model pictured to the right has made this an instant favorite.
Features the new Omega 2500 self-winding chronometer with Co-Axial Escapement movement. All models have a stainless steel case and black dial. Water resistance to 600 meters (2000 feet) which makes it suitable for all types of diving. Bracelets are available in stainless steel, leather and rubber.
The term "apnea" means to stop breathing. While most folks associate apnea with a sleeping disorder, this watch is not going to help cure it. This watch is actually designed to be used for free diving. This model is also part of the Michael Phelps series.
It features the Omega 3601 self-winding chronograph with a free diving timing display for up to a 14 minute dive. All models have a stainless steel case. Four variations include black or white dial and stainless steel or rubber bracelet.
