On Thursday, November 30, 2006 we launched a brand new watch forum - Watch Forums 2.0. We chose this name because these new forums utilize the latest technologies. These technologies will enhance the experience of the forum members and guests.
There are several watch forums in existence today and I participate in most of them. However, I have been frustrated by the problems that seem to plague these forums today.
For example, the Seiko and Citizen Forum has a very active membership. However, it is very difficult to navigate the forums and follow specific threads. There are no categories and all of the messages are simply displayed in a tree view with the most recent new message showing at the top.
Watch Forums 2.0 has collapsible categories and headers as well as a display of inline links so you can move from one section to another quickly and easily. If there is a particular topic you would like to follow, you can simply click on the "Notify" button and each time a response is posted, we will automatically send you an e-mail with a link to the topic.
One of my all-time favorite technology toys these days is rss news feed readers. I use Google Reader and subscribe to over twenty different news feeds. If you are not familiar with how these work, I would strongly encourage you to check them out. I call it my customized online newspaper.
If you are already hooked like me, then you will be glad to know that we have a feed for Watch Forums 2.0. You can subscribe to this feed regardless of whether or not you are a forum member (membership is free and you are required to sign up to post messages). And if you still like to get your updates by e-mail instead of in an rss reader, we offer that as well.
I hope you will join me in making Watch Forums 2.0 the best watch forums on the internet. Take care and enjoy!
