Waterproof, diving 300m/1000ft, for how long ?

In a recent trip to Mexico´s Pacific Coast I found an Omega Seamaster in the sand. After a fresh water rinse, I realized that it was working perfectly. The only part I needed to change was the battery.
No question about waterproof - who knows for how long it laid in the sea bottom and in which depth?
My applauses to the swiss technology !!
